Global Christianity

Welcome

This guide is intended to provide an entry into research on Christianity as it is practiced on six of the world's seven continents. It was created in partnership with, and in order to serve the needs of, the Syngman Rhee Global Mission Center for Christian Education, and will be updated continually.

Please note that the categories in the menu at left are not always clearly delineated. Take some time to browse and see what's under the different tabs. In addition, this guide will contain links to a forthcoming guide, "The Church in the World," which will focus on cross-cultural interconnections among the world's Christian communities and their connections to other faiths.

The resources you'll find in this guide likely do not exhaust the Library's holdings on a given subject. You can search the library catalog by keyword to find more books on your topic. Or you can click a book that interests you in this guide, and then click on the entry in the Library catalog and scroll down to find the subject headings associated with that book. Clicking on the subject heading will bring up a new search for books that are cataloged similarly to the book that interests you. If you need help, please email the Reference librarian, Robin McCall, using the link on the left side of this guide.

Statistics on Global Christianity

Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary publishes an annual "snapshot" of global Christianity, in the form of a statistical overview of Christians around the world and their activities. The Status of Global Christianity is downloadable from their website. (Thanks to Todd Johnson, Co-Director of the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell, for permission to share this link on UPSem's site.)
