Finding and Using eBooks

This guide highlights Union Presbyterian Seminary Library eBook collections as well as offering discovery and access instruction.

How to download PDF chapters or pages from ProQuest Ebook Central and EBSCO eBooks

Many of the Library’s eBook platforms permit users to download entire titles or a set number of chapters/pages. Since the ProQuest Ebook Central and EBSCO eBooks platforms place more restrictions on how many pages users may download, this page explains this process for each of these platforms.

How to Download Chapters/Pages in Ebook Central

Downloading Chapters/Pages in Ebook Central

When viewing an Ebook Central title in your web browser, the Availability section of the title details how many pages are available for download. This number can vary depending on the total number of pages of the book and is set by the publisher.

To download a chapter:

To determine which section of the book you need to download scroll down the page to view the contents of the book. Some titles are organized into sections and subsections so it may be necessary to click Show Subsections to view individual book chapters.

When you have located the desired chapter:

Click the Download PDF button next to the chapter or section title.

Click the Download button on the pop up box.

The downloaded file may now be viewed with any PDF viewer (e.g. Adobe Reader) or viewed immediately in your web browser.

If viewing in your web browser, you can click the print or save icons in the toolbar to the top right of the screen. Saved PDFs do not expire. Note: The default save location on most computers is the Downloads folder.

Returning to the Ebook Central eBook Viewer, note that the available number of pages to print or download has been updated. The allowance will reset after 24 hours, giving you the full number of pages to copy/print/download again.
