Bring your lunch to the Digital Learning Lab -- or your desk -- and we'll provide the chips and sweet. Spend half an hour with Dora as she explores some basic research skills in this refresher session, although we hope you will learn some new things as well Our focus this week is on Zotero, a free citation management tool that collects your source metadata as you search and read online. The actual workshop session runs for about half an hour, but I will remain in the lab and online for another half hour for questions and socializing.

In this workshop, we will focus on setting up Zotero:

Setting up your citations doesn't have to be a nightmare. However, if you wait until you are writing your paper, it will be too late. The best way to make them easy is to set up Zotero before you find your first source. So, this week, we will discuss:

    • Downloading the app and the browser extension
    • Saving sites
    • Create topic folders in the app
    • Edit the citation information in the app
    • Add a citation to a Word document

Join Dora for tea, gluten free scones, jam, and non-dairy whipped "cream." If you are joining us online, please make yourself a cup of tea and a sweet! This week, we will take a deeper dive into using the Library's EBSCO databases by creating Projects that will save not only specific resources, but also entire search strategies complete with narrowed facets. This will allow you to run the search more than once to find newly published research. The actual workshop session runs for about half an hour, but I will remain in the lab and online for another half hour for questions and socializing.

In this workshop, we will discuss:

    • What EBSCO does and does not save automatically
    • A quick review of narrowing searches by facet
    • Creating a Research Project and saving both searches and resources to it
