Read: “Search for Sources Systematically,” pp. 28-32 (section 3.2) in your Turabian textbook (which you should own a copy of by now!)

Class Prep: Do

  • Browse: The library’s guide on using the ATLA Religion database. (You can access this guide by going to the “Research Guides” tab on the library’s homepage. Then select “Tools and Tutorials.” Finally, click on “Using the ATLA Religion database and ATLAS Plus.”) Click through all the blue tabs to find out how the tutorial can help you understand how to search the database.
  • Visit: The Atlas Plus database for UPSem. To get there, go to the library website --> Library Resources --> Online Databases --> ATLAS Plus.
    • Use the database’s Boolean operators (the drop-down options “and,” “or,” and “not”), searching different terms to see how the operators cause the database to include and exclude content. It doesn’t matter what terms you decide to use; just play around with it!
